How to Generate and Download a Full Backup of Your cPanel Account

Follow this tutorial to make a full backup of your website with cPanel. You’ll need to do this before cancellation in order to save a backup of your site for safe keeping if you ever want to have your site back online again in the future. 1. Log in to your cPanel account. 2. In the Files section, click on Backup. 3. Under Full Backup, click on Download a Full Website backup. 4. From the drop-down menu, select the backup destination as Home and enter your email address in the email field to receive a notification when the backup is complete. After the cPanel backup is finished, you will receive a notification. You can download backups from Backup > Download a Full Account Backup.

HostHuski offers many ways to access your cPanel for your hosting plan. If you want to be direct, you can open the cPanel login screen in a couple ways… 1. You can navigate to s2.hosthuski.com/cpanel 2. Or, you can add “/cpanel” after your domain. Like “mydomain.com/cpanel” Instructions are also provided in your cPanel Account email from us when you signed up for hosting. You can even access your cPanel from your HostHuski account.

How to change your cPanel password

This demo assumes you’ve already logged in to cPanel, and are starting on the home screen. Now let’s learn how to change the cPanel password. Click the “Change Password” icon. First enter your old, or existing password. Then enter and confirm a new password. Click “Change your password now”. That’s it! The cPanel password has been changed. This is the end of the tutorial. Add a DNS record to cPanel

This demo assumes you’ve already logged in to cPanel, and are starting on the home screen. Now let’s learn how to add an “A record” with the DNS Zone Editor. Click the “Simple Zone Editor” icon. Select the domain you want to edit. Then enter the “A Record”, followed by the IP address you want it to point to. Click Add a Record. That’s it! We’ve successfully added an “A Record” to our domain. You can see the new record listed here at the bottom… Which is also where you can click to delete the record when it’s no longer needed. This is the end of the tutorial. Using the Disk Space Usage tool in cPanel

This demo assumes you’ve already logged in to cPanel, and are starting on the home screen. Now let’s learn how to use the Disk Space Usage tool. Click the “Disk Usage” icon. From here you can see how much storage space is being used by each directory and sub-directory in your account. At the bottom of the page is a collapsible list of directories. Clicking on a plus sign will expand the directory revealing the specific files and folders within. Clicking an actual folder name… … will launch File Manager, showing the contents of that folder. Creating a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) account in cPanel

This demo assumes you’ve already logged in to cPanel, and are starting on the home screen. Now let’s learn how to setup additional FTP accounts. Click the “FTP Accounts” icon. To create a new FTP account, enter a new login and password. Then click “Create FTP Account”. That’s it! The new FTP account has been created. This demo assumes you’ve already logged in to cPanel, and are starting on the home screen. Now let’s learn how to create a subdomain. Click the “Subdomains” icon. Enter the prefix of your new subdomain. Make sure the domain name your subdomain will be associated with is selected. A directory name the same as your subdomain prefix will automatically appear… although you can change this if you want. Click the “Create” button. That’s it! A new subdomain has been created. A new folder called “clients” has also been created, which is where you would upload files for this subdomain. This is the end of the tutorial. You now know how to create subdomains in cPanel.

How to create a domain alias in cPanel

This demo assumes you’ve already logged in to cPanel, and are starting on the home screen. Now let’s learn how to create a domain alias. Click the “Aliases” icon. A domain alias is useful when you have additional domain names that you want people to be able to use to get to your website. Enter the new domain, then click “Add Domain”. That’s it! Now when someone browses to mybiz123.info, they’ll automatically be redirected to mybiz1234.com. Be sure to set your domain alias’s DNS settings to the same as your main domain, so the redirection will work properly. This is the end of the tutorial. Installing WordPress from cPanel

To install WordPress on your hosting plan, you can either ask us to do it for you, or follow these EASY steps below. 1. Open your cPanel 2. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the control options and click the blue WordPress icon. 3. You’ll see this screen. Click “Install Now” 4a. Select the domain you’d like to have connected to your website. You can also put it in a URL that has a slash like mywebsite.com/myotherwebsite. This can be a little tricky but you are allowed to do it. Just don’t put a “/” in the Directory text box field. 4b. Fill out all the options. Don’t use “admin” as your username — It’s not safe! After making your username, you’ll notice that your cPanel has generated a safe password for you. Copy and paste it somewhere safe. You can always change it later. 5. How to change the PHP version of your website

Did you see a Site Health warning in WordPress about your PHP version? Maybe it looked like this: Well, this article is for you! Assuming you are already logged in to your cPanel, scroll down until you see the “Software” section. (If you need to know how to get into your cPanel without knowing the password, you can read this quick explanation.) Once you are in the software section, locate and select the “MultiPHP Manager” option   Select the checkbox next to the site domain you want to change the PHP version for. To see what version of PHP your site is running, you’ll see it listed in the table next to your site’s domain. You can also check in the WordPress dashboard for this information as well.   Select your desired PHP version from the dropdown menu. Best to pick the highest PHP version available.   Select the “Apply” button.

We make it easy for you to access your cPanel account without having to ever know the password! All you have to do is login to your HostHuski client area and then open the hosting plan you want to access the cPanel for. You can do this from the “Your Active Products/Services” box, or by clicking the “Services” box to open the full list. After doing this, click the sidebar toggle (if it’s closed) to open your actions menu. Finally, click the Login to cPanel button. You can also find other options here as well. That’s it!

Create a clone or staging copy of your WordPress site

Sometimes you need to make a copy of your website. This can be for duplicating a site for another domain or URL (cloning), or for working on changes safely before pushing them to live (staging). To take an existing WordPress site from your hosting plan and clone or stage it, you’ll follow these steps, first. We’ll assume you are already logged into cPanel. 1. Open your cPanel 2. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the control options and click the blue WordPress icon. 3. Scroll down until you see a list of your existing WordPress installs. And select one of two options: cloning or  staging. Staging Staging creates a new copy of your site that you can edit and then push the changes to your live site. 1. To create a stage for your site, select the Stage button next to the install you want to stage. 2. Then fill the form on the next screen. How to Check Server-side Traffic Reports: AWStats

What is Awstats? You can use the cPanel tool, “Awstats” to check server-side traffic analytics which includes bots, humans, and other types of visitors across webpages, files, and more. How to use AWStats. First, log into the cPanel account of the site you want to see reports for. Then find “Awstats” tool link in the cPanel tools screen under the category “Metrics”. Then select the SSL version of your domain. Then select a time period to view data for. Scroll through the page to see the data for this time period.
