How to Import Old Emails From Your Previous Provider

How to Import Email from Another IMAP Account into HuskiMail #

If you’re switching to HuskiMail from another provider, importing your old email allows you to keep important messages, folders, and history in one place instead of starting over. HuskiMail includes a built-in import tool that makes this process simple. This process is done via the IMAP server credentials from your old provider*.

#

Step-by-Step: Import Email via IMAP into HuskiMail #

  1. Log in to your HuskiMail inbox
Visit the following URL and sign in: https://mailbox.huskimail.com
  2. Open Settings
From the left-hand sidebar, click Settings.
  3. Click Import
In the Settings menu, select Import (look for the up-and-down arrow icon).
  4. Enter your old email account’s IMAP details
Provide the IMAP connection information for your previous email provider. This usually includes:

    • IMAP server address
    • Port number
    • Encryption type (such as SSL/TLS)
    • Email address (username)
    • Password

*If you don’t know these details, your previous email provider’s support team can supply them.

  5. Start the import
Click Start Importing to begin transferring your email.
The time required depends on the size of the mailbox being imported.
  6. Keep an eye on the import
Check back in 15 minutes to confirm the import is running.
Then check again an hour later.
If the import is still running, wait 24 hours and it should usually be completed.

WARNING: Do not cancel or delete your old email account until the import has fully completed.

Notes and Important Limitations #

  • One inbox at a time
Imports work on a one-to-one basis:

    • One old inbox to one new HuskiMail inbox
    • If you have multiple email accounts, each must be imported separately, but multiple imports can be done at the same time.
  • Folders are typically preserved
Most IMAP imports will bring over your existing folders and subfolders.
  • Keep your old mailbox active

Do not cancel or delete your old email account until the import has fully completed.

That’s it, dawg!
