Transferring a domain away from HostHuski

How to Transfer Your Domain Away from HostHuski #

We’re sad to see your domain go, but we understand that sometimes you need to move your registration to another provider. Whether you’re consolidating services or making a change for other reasons, we’ll make sure the process is smooth and clear so you can complete your transfer without headaches.

When you transfer away, you’ll lose our free DNS management help and our 30/60/90–day expiration reminders.

If you’re ready to proceed, here’s exactly how to do it through your HostHuski customer portal (powered by WHMCS).

Transfer Eligibility #

  • Your domain must be at least 60 days old at its current registrar.
  • You must unlock the domain and get your EPP/authorization code.
  • The registrant email address on file must be correct (this is where the transfer approval email goes).

Special cases:

  • .UK domains do not use EPP codes. Instead, you’ll provide your new registrar with our IPS tag (we’ll give it to you on request).
  • Moving a domain between HostHuski accounts is a “push” not a transfer.

Step 1: Log Into Your HostHuski Portal #

  1. Go to [your HostHuski client login page].
  2. Enter your email and password, then click Login.

Step 2: Unlock Your Domain #

  1. In the Client Area, click Domains in the top menu.
  2. Find the domain you want to transfer and click the wrench icon (Manage Domain).
  3. On the left-hand menu, click Registrar Lock.
  4. Set the toggle to Disabled and click Save Changes.

Step 3: Get Your EPP/Authorization Code #

The EPP code (also called an auth code or transfer key) is a unique password for your domain transfer.

  1. Still in the Manage Domain view, click Get EPP Code in the left-hand menu.
  2. The code will be emailed to your registrant email address (check spam/junk folders if needed).
  3. Give this code to your new registrar when starting the transfer.

Changing your registrant email just before a transfer can trigger a 60-day lock (opt-out may apply depending on the registry).

Step 4: Start and Approve the Transfer #

  • At your new registrar, enter your domain name and EPP code to initiate the transfer.
  • You’ll receive an approval email.

Clicking Approve in that email can speed up the transfer so you don’t have to wait the full 5–7 days.

Step 5: Be Aware of Renewal Timing Rules #

Most transfers add one extra year to your domain’s registration. However, if:

  • Your domain expired and was renewed during the grace period, and
  • You transfer it within 45 days of that renewal

You’ll pay for the transfer but won’t get the extra year (this is a registry rule across providers).

Cancelling a Transfer #

  • Use the cancellation link in your transfer approval email, or
  • Contact HostHuski Support and we’ll stop the transfer for you.

We’ll miss being your domain’s home, but you’re always welcome back at HostHuski anytime.

Thinking of coming back? Here’s how to transfer your domain to HostHuski.
