Transferring a domain away from HostHuski

Last Updated: August 9, 2025

How to Transfer Your Domain Away from HostHuski We’re sad to see your domain go, but we understand that sometimes you need to move your registration to another provider. Whether you’re consolidating services or making a change for other reasons, we’ll make sure the process is smooth and clear so you can complete your transfer without headaches. If you’re ready to proceed, here’s exactly how to do it through your HostHuski customer portal (powered by WHMCS). Transfer Eligibility Your domain must be at least 60 days old at its current registrar. You must unlock the domain and get your EPP/authorization code. The registrant email address on file must be correct (this is where the transfer approval email goes). Special cases: .UK domains do not use EPP codes. Instead, you’ll provide your new registrar with our IPS tag (we’ll give it to you on request). Moving a domain between HostHuski accounts is a “push” not a transfer. Step 1: Log Into Your HostHuski Portal Go to [your HostHuski client login page]. Enter your email and password, then click Login. Step 2: Unlock Your Domain In the Client Area, click Domains in the top menu. Find the domain you want to transfer...

Transferring Your Domain vs Migrating Your Website: What’s the Difference? Congratulations on choosing HostHuski as your new website hosting partner! As you prepare to make the switch, you may have heard two terms thrown around: “domain transfer” and “website migration.” While they’re related, they’re not the same thing. In this article, we’ll break down the differences and guide you through the process of transferring your domain and migrating your website to HostHuski. Transferring Your Domain A domain transfer involves moving your domain name (e.g., hosthuski.com) from your current registrar to a new one. This process updates the global domain name system (DNS) to point to the new registrar. When you transfer your domain to HostHuski, you’ll still need to migrate your website separately. For more details on transferring your domain to HostHuski please see this article. Migrating Your Website Website migration, on the other hand, involves moving your website’s files, databases, and settings from your current hosting provider to HostHuski. This process ensures that your website remains functional and intact on our servers. Steps to Migrate Your Website to HostHuski Checklist you MUST follow before requesting us to migrate your WordPress website for you: Website is a WordPress-based website (login...

How to Transfer a Domain into HostHuski

How to Transfer a Domain Into HostHuski When you are transferring a domain registration from one Registrar to another (like GoDaddy to HostHuski, for example), there are specific steps you will need to take to prepare your domain. Below are the details to prepare your domain for transfer with your current Registrar (where you bought the domain from) and then submit the transfer request with HostHuski (where you are transferring the domain to.) Note: If your domain expired with your old Registrar and you renewed it with them, please do not transfer it within 45 days of the previous expiration date. Otherwise an extra year would not be added to your domain name since losing Registrar revokes renewal in such cases. And you’d lose renewal fees paid to the old Registrar. Your website will experience no downtime if your domain is already pointed to our name servers. If you don’t know which name servers to use, send us a chat! Please also be aware that once a domain transfer is started, it’s impossible to update the domain’s DNS records. If you need to perform any DNS changes, make sure to do these beforehand. Otherwise, you’ll have to do this after...
